End of year judgements

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by zippy05, Jun 17, 2015.

  1. morning all...

Im returning to the EYFS after 6 years and whilst I thought I understood the assessment system for the end of year i'm finding i'm a little confused about 40-60 and ELGS...

If I judge a child to be expected 40-60m, I start to look at ELGs or only when that child is exceeding 40-60?

Also the end of year judgement...is that that they achieved the ELGs or so I put them as expected/exceeding the ELGs?

sorry if this is a silly questions!

At the end of the year you are assessing the children against the ELGs. They will either be emerging (not achieving the ELG), expected (achieving the ELG) or exceeding (going above and beyond the ELG). If you judge a child to be emerging, you might want to provide more information about what level the child is at (eg. if he is working within 40-60 months).
