Discussion in 'English' started by lorraineparkes, Dec 3, 2011.

  1. Hi, can anyone clarify the changes the new education bill makes to the English curriculum and the teaching of it?

Has it been published yet? If so I've obviously missed it! (It's been pending so long.)

Formal announcement of changes is due in December. We all wait with bated breath...

  4. It's been delayed by a year! First teaching now in 2014! Can't quite work out from the report exactly what is going to change except that levels are going and key stage 3 might be reduced to two years and key stage 4 might increase to 3.
Does anyone know when the actual curriculum will come out rather than the government report?

  5. End of controlled assessment I hope!

77 pages long, so only had a quick scan.
Yes, not due to come into force unti 2014.
Some ideas about collapsing number of subjects at Primary level.
Concerns about current ways of assessment. Acceptance that progress is not always parallel and need to start looking at progress over a 2 yr span.
Current levels eg level 2 in yr 2 level 4 in yr 6 may change to level 1 year 1 level 4 year 4 etc. (New idea there then!)
Also possibility of extending GCSE over 3 years.
