    Hi all,

Disastrous composition from an inherited group of year 11s has resulted in me asking a few to restart their composition entirely.

With the Popular Music in Context song, are they permitted to use existing poetry/lyrics/stimulus or do they have to write their own?

Please help! Can't find the answer in the edexcel specification!

They don't get marked on the lyrics so yes you could use a poem or existing lyrics.
The only way they could help with the marks is if you demonstrate good use of word-setting or word painting.
