I've just joined a new school where I am teaching Italian for the first time. The students I am teaching in Y9 will be taking the new GCSE 9-1 but there doesn't seem to be a specific textbook to use. The teacher I am covering has decided to follow the order of the French Studio course so that all the themes are covered. She then just picks out the relevant bit in the Amici course book or translates the French Studio text/exercises into Italian. I can't see this working for me as I am not a native speaker and haven't got the time to translate a textbook! Does anybody have any better suggestions?

Amici is quite a good textbook and has a lot of in depth materials to support all the skills. It isn't mapped to GCSE but does cover all the topics well. I also use the workbook alongside and adapt real simple texts or write questions on short youtube clips for additional support. I would personally follow Amici in order so the pupils are led through the grammar and vocabulary in a sensible order but you could continue to follow the Studio order if that makes you feel more secure. Which elements do you feel are not adequately covered in Amici?
