EdExcel A2 performing length

Discussion in 'Music' started by richardmcelwaine, Apr 19, 2012.

  1. Hi,

Can anyone remember if the 12-15 minute recital length means a minimum of 12 minutes of actual notes, or the minimum length of the recording including gaps between pieces, tuning, applause etc.

    Thanks

From the spec (with my emphasis):
Students should time their performances carefully. The minimum requirement in terms of length is
    12 minutes’ actual playing time.

  4. Having been to the standardisation meeting last week I would like to reiterate what Florian says here. The moderator will time each piece with an accurate stopwatch and will start knocking marks off at 11'30". You will then be informed that you need to change your marks to take account of the short recital. It's just giving marks away!

  5. Equally they get marks for the programme so an example of a prior student losing marks was a fantastic programme of classical guitar pieces. The he had to plonk on an electric guitar rock school thing on the end as he was a little short. Lost marks on programming.
