" You don't know until you've tried it, " my mother used to tell me waving a greyish gristly lump of meat under my nose.

What exotic food /drink or otherwise have you tried or failed to try? Comment all you like.

    Fish Maw ?

    Yes ( gelatinous and horrid)

No, hate anything fishy although in my childhood I was forced to eat fish and shellfish. Hmmmm, maybe that’s why I hate the smell of it now.

Tripe? Cooked in milk with onions, pallid and ghastly... Not exotic but I suspect seldom eaten nowadays.

Escargot . A friend said "Honestly they are so delicious!" I can only describe it as chewing gristle :(

Finnish "mustamakkara" (blood sausage). Here's a photo that hopefully makes it look as delicious as it was! mustamakkara.jpg

    Are we playing this properly?
Are we supposed to say a food e.g 'snails' then the next poster says if they've eaten them or not and if they want make some comment?

Yes, South African Mopane worms (fried)
At a party in Grimsby - A big eggy - just spoilt by the skin that had crispy flakes which lodged between the teeth.

Yes, Frogs legs. At a New ~Years party given by a Spanish father of a lad I went to school with. Close your eyes and it is just like very tender chicken.

On a camping holiday in Portugal we had stew which was quite nice until we discovered quite a lot of tripe masquerading as beef which ended up back on the plate ( no taste, but the texture was bumpy rubber )
