Have any of you got the news of the earthquake (7.5)? Watch BBC news at 6 tonight and find out more.

I'm quite surprised you didn't write that sentence in Bold and give it a few more exclamation marks.

Why is it shocking? Periods of frequent tectonic activity are just part of geology. One incident along a fault line often sets something else off. I don't think it's the End Times. It's certainly more widely reported now so probably seems more frequent.
"Small earthquake in Chile; not many dead" wouldn't do for 24 hr news stations.

2015 has been a routine year so far for earthquakes, perhaps one or two more than usual over mag 7.0, and only one over 8.0 in Chile. But nothing to match the huge 9.1 and 8.6 earthquakes off Sumatra in December 2004 and April 2012.
