I have a Reception observation next week (25/09) having only had my new class full time for a week and a half at that point - particularly early in my opinion! What do You feel would be expected for the Head teacher and a member of SLT to see at this time? It's just that this cohort is particularly tricky and so the embedding of routines/expectations combined with obvious PSED aspects are currently at the forefront and so I was just curious to the opinion of other EYFS specialists out there!

    Thank you in advance...

I think it's impossible to say what your head and SLT would want to see. Some schools know little about good Early Years practice and will expect to see very different things from those who know about Early Years. Maybe they want to see how you are coping with the class (are you new to the school?), maybe they want to see how things are at the beginning of the year so they can compare later on/observe progress over the year. Does the observation have a focus?

Hi Primaryteacher 23, hope your observation went well. I have an observation in a couple of weeks time in Reception... feel your pain! They are just so little and it's impossible to know what to do for the best at this stage in the year! x
