eal lunchtime club

  1. hi everyone
    i've just been offered to run an eal lunchtime club for infants in my primary school. Does anyone have any ideas how to make this time funny and interesting for them?all advice will be much appreciated!

    Invite some very good English speakers to the club as well. Children with EAL need to hear excellent English spoken in order to pick it up. Two good speakers and two children with EAL can play snakes and ladders etc to learn all kinds of language skills.

    I'd suggest some year 6 helpers who could lead board games alone if you don't want to flood the classroom out. They can also read books, such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, 1-1 or 1-2 and chat to the infants about it. Or lead painting activities to help with colour recognition.

    Just make it a social club with some adult initiated activities.
