Dt Teacher wanting to get into teaching Maths

Discussion in 'Mathematics' started by BrianMagner, May 6, 2011.

  1. Hi everyone,
I am currently finishing my NQT year in the UK in the area of design and technology (the area I did my PGCE in) but I deparately want to get into teaching Maths. I have read that you can't do a PGCE again once you have sucessfully completed one and I read that you can't do a Maths enhancement course once you have a PGCE completed also.
Does anyone know how to get into teaching Maths from having a PGCE in another subject?
I would really appreciate any help and/or advice on the matter.
    Thanks a lot,

    Kind Regards,

Our LA (lancs) run courses for non specialist maths teachers, they publicise them at subject leaders meeting and on their website. It entailed 12? afternon sessions every Monday 1-5pm, requiring commitment from teacher and school.
