Draft revised standards for registration - any thoughts?

Discussion in 'Scotland - Primary' started by Lplateteacher, Nov 4, 2012.

  1. I think the new standards to help bring teachers back to the level of professionalism we should have and the responsiblity that goes with it. However I also feel there will be a huge clash as it adds a huge amount of work/expectation to the normal teacher. There is also the professional life long standards which are basically expectations once you've taught for a while you should be workng towards them - sounds a bit like chartered teacher without any recognition for it.
If they do end up making teaching a masters degree and that all teachers need to carry on further education to a masters level then the new standards fit easily - however seems a bit poor to have to do all that extra work and fund it with no recompense in money or recognition after it.
