Does Secondary QTS count in 'qualified' Early Years ratios?

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by jwillock, Sep 14, 2015.

  1. Hi, I've just taken over as manager of a pre-school and am finding it difficult to recruit qualified practitioners. There's been an application from someone with Secondary QTS - would this count in an Early Years setting?

Either as a person with QTS or as one of the other qualified staff alongside the level 3's (she has no Early Years experience apart from her own children)

    Thanks in advance

I believe a QTS is a Level 6/7 in regards to child care, however not having EYFS experience would be a challenge. Maybe ask for an observation lesson as part of the recruitment process? http://www.education.gov.uk/eypqd/level7.shtml
