Does anyone know about maternity pay

Discussion in 'Supply teaching' started by claire_owen, Jan 17, 2011.

  1. Hi. You would be entitled to SMP paid by the government not your agency. It is about £120 a week or you could get 90% pay for 6 weeks and then 50% for so many weeks and then the £120 a week. Whichever is the most.
This is a dilema I am having at the moment too. You would get paid more if you had a contract but would have to have worked there for a year to qualify and then a 3 months afterwards or you would loose the money. However, the maternity pay from a contract job isn't great either.
  2. Ok thanks. I shall have a sit down with my partner and have a think about things then :)
