Hi, I would really appreciate some help. We teach AQA.
So the headlines are GCSE Drama 86% A-C with 41% A's. Cohort of 65.
    AS 97% A-C - one D
    A2 86% B-C - one D no A's
    Amazing colleagues. Incredible practical work.
So it should be a happy day right. Well - we thought we were on track for 100% A*-C in GCSE so its been a bit of a surprise to see how different grades are with the scaling of the written.
Plus the headlines don't tell the story of the A2 results. DR1, DR2, DR4 - AMAZING. DR3 - all D's, E's and U's. We put them in for DR3 in January so we got these results in March so got the AST in - she couldn't see that we were teaching it wrong at all. Plus we followed the same essay structure (point, justify, quote, example - describing movement) for AS with no problems. So we lived and breathed the mark scheme and put them in for a resit in June. They did worse.
Is there anyone out there who has access to marked papers by top band pupils who can share more knowledge with me particularly with the DR3 Alevel paper? Is there anyone out there who marks for AQA who can help me? What am I doing wrong - how can I improve? For those that did well - what texts did you do?
I got the AST in, I used the mark scheme. I worked for AQA as an examiner on the old specs . I am at a total loss to know what to do next.
In our department we are so hard working - we really do go above and beyond for our students - which is why its so sad and disappointing. Any advice, help, ideas, would be gratefully recieved.
    Thanks so much, x

This is the third time I have asked a question on here and the third time no one has answered. I am very nice.
I am really at the end of my tether and considering just jacking this whole thing in.
Is there any specialists in AQA that could help me at all. I will pay!!
  3. The best bet would to apply to become an examiner yourself. this is what I did and was most useful. there 'is' a formula to these papers. can't be specific but really worth having a go! dont teach/examine GCSE I'm afraid!

    Hi there,
I know this is the only option left for me. I just remember how hard to fit it in when I was when I was a single girl and now I have a family.
I just don't know if I've got that little bit of reserve left.
With the A-level formula - as far as I am aware it is
Point - Justify - Quote - Example - and in the example describe movement a lot using words like posture, gesture, manniersm, gait, facial expression. Am I on the right track?
    Thanks x
