Do you need an English PGCE to teach English or will another Pgce do?

so long as you have a degree in it? What if you wanted to teach abroad? Would having a PGCE in another subject be a disadvantage?

At a decent school that publicly esteems academic results, I'd imagine it wouldn't help against a candidate that has an English PGCE. Saying that, if you are currently teaching English in an academically achieving school, then would be useful. What explanation would you have for wanting to teach English now, rather than before?

There are plenty of schools abroad, though, that would undoubtedly accept you if you were willing to take on an adventure. Whether they're businesses or schools is debatable, but if you are determined to work abroad, you can.
