Do you need a certain number of candidates to interview?

    It is entirely up to the panel.
    A readvertisement may well bring in a zero response as well as the possibility of losing the existing one candidate.
    The single candidate is only worth interviewing if the information received for the application (application form, response to person spec., etc.,) indicates that the candidate can do the job.
    It may be worth interviewing and THEN readvertising if necessary.

    There is no legal position on this. At least, I have never been made aware of one.
