Do you mention your union in a job application?

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by I_like_food, May 2, 2011.

  1. I am applying for a teaching job (which I haven't done since I was a student) and there is a section that asks for membership of professional associations- does this mean unions?

Sorry if it seems like a daft question but I haven't filled in one of these forms in a long time!

No, I would only mention something linked to your subject...Never mention your Union, IMHO...

There's no need to mention your union. It really does mean membership of professional bodies such as subject specialist organisations, etc.

The only time I would mention my Union in a job application would be if I was a union rep. and was using the experience to provide evidence in meeting the job / person specification. Otherwise it is irrelevant
