Do we get taxed on the bursary money

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by eannie, Jun 17, 2011.

  1. Hi Danniebear
How lucky you are to still have your bursary - they've just scrapped mine - English secondary (grrrrr).
From memory, it's tax free and paid in 3 stages. If you ask your training provider, they will tell you, as I think the bursary is paid to them and they then pay it to you (but don't quote me on this).
For peace of mind, why don't you put a call in to the TDA. They should be able to tell you there and then how it's paid - it might say on their website (in fact, I think it does....)
    Hope this helps.

It gets paid via your training provider. Mine was paid monthly in 9 installments; the last one was in May. And it is completely tax free - hurrah!
  3. Thanks guys =D
