Do I lack expertise or are they expecting too much?

    Just wanted to update you as this thread has run a while now.

    Firstly spending time in the garden has to be a huge plus for teaching at home. I'm afraid some of my earlier posts may come across as really negative, but I love the garden aspect. I don't have a high tolerance level for lateness, but if a long standing pupil is a bit late, I don't mind at all if I can spend the time pottering, or getting some washing in. (But, I still finish pretty much dead on the hour, regardless of what time they turned up).

    On the A Level student. I haven't ditched him. I think all your advice was spot on, but when I really thought about things, he'd been reliable since his missed lesson (for which he coughed up), and he does seem to appreciate my hard work.
