I must have that sort of face -people think they've seen me before.
    Do you look familiar?

Indeed I do. I recognise myself in the mirror nine times out of ten. Maybe more.

When mrs mumbles met me at ev a couple of weeks ago, she was sure she knew me and I was sure I knew her but where from and how we had no idea.

I suppose you must be unremarkable and homogenous, Dun;)

I am now of an age when I think I know everybody.

Don't I know you from somewhere? That's what I'm thinking constantly.

    Nah!
    My face is instantly forgettable

    Yes.

I look like your brother-in-laws mate, or your cousins husband, that bloke who works in a different department at work you occasionally speak to. Dead common me.

With respect, you may be old enough by now to have had the opportunity to have met everybody.

Just to say GDW I liked DoY's post as it made me laugh rather than a sign that I supported the sentiment therein.

I don't know about familiar but I clearly look non-threatening or approachable because I always get stopped for directions or to take a photo or grab something off the high shelf in the supermarket.

I've had 'I'm sure I've met you before?' followed by a dark, suspicious scowl, from someone I've never met before. Most disconcerting to be hated so much by a complete stranger.

I once had someone tell me he'd been on a football tour of the Netherlands with me some years previously (and the rest of the team). I assured him I didn't play football let alone belong to any teams and had never been to the Netherlands (though I did vaguely know him), he got a bit narked at why I was pretending not to have been. It is most disconcerting.
