    What do you think?

I believe it is worse with men and they should be punished harder.

    Abuse is abuse.
The gender of the perpetrator should be irrelevant to the severity of the punishment.

    Of course they should.

Is there a rise? I can't find any figures.

I wonder if all of the judges who gave these lenient sentences were male. I would hypothesise that it is easier for another woman to accept the potential for a female to be abusive.

A six year old report which says there might be up to 64,000 female sex offenders...

How many of these are the handmaidens of male offenders, I wonder. Not excusing it. Just wondering how many are lone operators and how many assist men to whom they may be in thrall.

How many are slightly older women having sex with willing teenage boys? Again. Wondering what range of activity the figures cover.

You're so right. Women are the gentle sex and never do anything wrong. How easily these fragile-minded creatures fall under the thrall of men and assist them in the doing of their dastardly deeds. MwaHaHa.

How many are slightly older men having sex with willing teenage girls?

Does that make it sound any better grumpydogwoman.

You say you're "not excusing it". Sounds like you are to me.

    Rosemary West liked the girls.

    Just saying.

As it hasn't been established whether there in fact is a rise, I think the thread needs renaming to "some women do bad things too - discuss"

And yes, yes they do. And yes they should be punished. Can't quite see what is controversial here...

    From DM
"Disturbing rise of the women child sex predators:"

but gives no evidence of rise in number of women committing such offences

"Hatt joins an increasing number convicted of sex crimes against boys"

So there's an increase in the number convicted (although no supporting evidence given).

This could suggest that courts are now more likely to convict women than before.
Isn't that a good news story DM?

The controversy arises due to the difference in the sentences given to men and women in similar cases.

    What's the topic?

    The causes of female sex-offending?
    The factors involved in sentencing?

This is a topical issue. It strikes me that discussing it seriously is much more important than playing with the twisty, lightweight drivel at which this forum excels.

Yes, a point which some women prefer to overlook.

    What's the topic?

    The causes of female sex-offending?
    The factors involved in sentencing?

See above. You are being evasive, and seem to be excusing the poor sentencing in my opinion.

    Just a poorly-worded thread-title. In my opinion. ;)
