On another thread people are discussing doing the washing up.
Thought everyone had a dishwashing machine.
Do you? And if not, why not?

Not - I will get one one day if I live long enough. I just need the washing machine moved into the boiler room but that hinges on getting a wall-mounted boiler to replace the inefficient, 30-year-old floor-standing one that takes up too much of the space at the moment.

    Not.

There are only two of us in the house and neither of us minds washing up as soon as a meal is finished.

Mine packed up months ago. Haven't replaced it and don't miss it.

Got one ...only use it at Christmas. Hate them, more trouble than they're worth.

    Definitely, wouldn't be without it.

There is a theory that you can't just buy one dishwasher, you have to buy two!

One for filling and one for emptying.

Mine packed up a week ago and we bought a new one the next day. There is no domestic appliance I miss more. You can kiss off any meal that takes more than one pan for a start.

Don't have one as there's nowhere to put it in our small flat. Can't wait to move somewhere bigger...

Accursed things. I don't have one but experience a large one when I go to Sydney where I seem to spend at least an hour a day filling the bl00dy thing and emptying it , in which time I could have washed the things up umpteen times over by hand. Anyway I don't believe in washing up a mug every time it's used. I like to have the same one all day and rinse it under the tap after it's used before re-using it. And by the time you've rinsed the plates so they won't be too dirty for the machine, you might as well have washed them properly. Can't think of a single good thing to say about the infernal machines.
