discussing art

Discussion in 'Primary' started by blushed99, Oct 25, 2011.

  1. Hi,
Next week my year 2 class start their new IPC topic, 'Food.' One of the weeks has an art focus, and to start us off i wanted to look at a range of pictures that are made using different food. I'm hoping for some ideas of how I can get children to analyse these pictures-something a bit more than just 'i like it because....' Any ideas?!

    Thanks!

Make a list of taste and texture words associated with the foods used in the pictures.
Use of colour choices - how does this affect our reaction to the picture? How would we react if the artist used different colours for the foods to we expect - blue baked beans for example?
Do we associate different foods with emotions - comfort foods - chocolate - brown tones, energy - citrus - yellow/orange tones for example.

  3. Thank you! Will def try and incorporate some of your ideas!
