I have only taught in one school, which I joined in 2010 after a career change. When applying to my first school, I provided 2 references - my PGCE tutor, and my mentor from a placement school. After 6 years, neither of these seem like appropriate references. At this stage, considering applying to roles in other schools, I will obviously provide my Head of Department as one reference. All schools require 2 references. My dilemma is who to provide as my other reference. Would it be best to give another reference from my current school - I had in mind an assistant headmaster, or the headmaster. What is appropriate? Is it a problem to have 2 references from my current school? Comments and thoughts appreciated - thanks!
