Dictionary use

    A pupil received this in English from a French pen friend:

    Kept silent pets?

    Kept silent brothers and sisters?

    What age kept silent?

    They had missed the hyphen in their subject verb inversion before using google translate!

    In case you are still thinking about it (it took me a while when I read it in the French pupil's letter):

    as-tu = do you have

    as tu = kept silent!

    kept silent brothers and sisters?

    kept silent pets?

    The one that keeps coming up across all years had me totally confuddled!

    Les cours commencent l'arobase huit heures

    il y a huit cent eleves l'arobase Funytown School

    Arobase is @

    @ is at!

    I assume they input @ instead of at, therefore get arobase instead of à !

    Yes that was what they did - just makes me want to scream though! There seems to be no joined up thinking!
