Development matters. assessing against the 7 areas or 17?

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by cmann00, Sep 2, 2012.

  1. When using the statements emerging, developing, securing, ...are you giving one assessment for each of the 7 areas, or giving one for each 'sub area'.
I was planning to give one but then it dawned on me that reading and writing are together under literacy so this may not work and I know points scores were broken down.

I am new to foundation so excuse me if this has a very obvious answer! :(

For tracking through the year, a judgement about each aspect of the 7 areas of learning (the sub areas if you like) in relation to the age bands of development matters. At the end of reception, a best fit judgement against the 17 early learning goals.
