1. This may seem like a silly question but I'm new to this applying! I'm currently applying for PE teacher positions, in the application there is a section requesting ' details of special qualifications on the basis of which qualified status is claimed, including Membership of Professional Institutions gained by examination.' Would this include previous NGB coaching qualifications??

Yes, that would be it exactly. You´ve got the right idea there.
You want to show off all your skills and qualifications, as it is a very competitive market out there - up to a third fewer jobs advertised this year so far, the Big Job Day in March just didn´t happen (normally you need a fork lift truck to pick up your TES from your porch on that Friday - this year, it went straight through the letter box), and there are enormous numbers of NQTs from 2010, 2009 and even 2008 who haven´t yet been able to start induction. And now teachers are getting redundancy notices . . .
This explains why, in one recent case, a school with 2 primary vacancies got 500 applications.
And many of those were asking to be considered for both posts . . .
Do make sure that you read the shortlisting advice clickables inside the Welcome thread. Or come along on 14 May to get advice from us then.
