Dear Theo, What do I take with me?

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by anon261, Feb 3, 2011.

  1. Dear Theo and all,
I'm primary trained but have just secured an interview for a secondary maths teaching position. I don't have very much teaching experience in secondary school and I'm an NQT, but have quite a lot of experience training adults. I'm not sure what to take with me. My primary lesson plans are from 2008 so are quite old too and I don't have anything that includes Afl activities [IMG].
What would I be expected to take - they haven't asked to see a portfolio of work but I'm planning on taking one, just in case!!
    Thank you

Great news about the interview! I knew somebody would want tto snapo you up.
Frankly, as you have a Maths degree, all you need to do is go in, and prove that you are alive and breathing . . .
It is not usual to take a portfolio for secondary jobs. If you don't have strong secondary stuff to show, it may not be worth taking it, since they haven't requested one.
Make sure that you prepare well by using the Interview clickables inside the Welcome thread. so you can start a new thread called: Dear Theo - I got that job!
    Fingers crossed for you.

The next Workshops I'm doing that still have vacancies are on Sunday 13th and Friday 25th February. There is also a specialist Workshop for applications to SLT on Saturday February 19th.

    Look forward to seeing you!

  3. lol - hope I do myself justice then!!
Excellent news - I'll not bother. - I have to plan and teach a lesson anyway, so they'll be able to see how I plan and teach from that!

    Thanks, Theo! [IMG]
