Dear Theo - What are they asking for?

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by Kittyhime, Mar 15, 2012.

  1. I'm currently in the process of completing an application form and it asks for 'Other Information' with a page length of space to fill. However, in this section it also says that there should be a separate covering letter to support my application... What is it that they're expecting in this section?
I'm really quite confused at the moment.

  2. This is covered in the top sticky. But, to answer your question, In that box you will put your executive summary which you make by comparing the person spec to you. Then you write your letter of application.

  3. Thank you [IMG]

    Quite right, Catherine!
My advice on writing applications is contained mainly in the shortlisting clickables inside the welcome thread here on this Forum. Also read the FAQs.
For an effective application, you should send:
    • an application form with every bit filled in, no "See letter"
    • an application letter OR personal statement. Not both but certainly one of them.
    • a cover letter ONLY if you do a personal statement. See FAQs inside the Welcome thread
    • an Executive summary. If there's a space on the form, put it in there; if not, put it at the end of your letter so that it gets printed out automatically. The shortlisting clickables explain about this.
    Best wishes
