Dear Theo: Speculative letters?

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by a_lovely_person, Mar 9, 2011.

  1. Im contemplating sending speculative letters to schools in my area. I'm a primary NQT and have been doing long and short term supply for 16 months I have an extension so can keep doing supply whilst still trying to secure a full time position. I had a search through the forums to see if I could find any advice.
Do you think that sending letters is a good idea?
Is this a way that I can offer services as a supply teaching? or should I just join more agencies?
Is there anything that I can be doing that can enhance my application form? training?

Yes, this is a common question - here are some replies we've given on this.
Because, I'm afraid, that yours is a common problem - unemployment!

    So, Q1: see above threads
Q2: Yes, you can try this - some schools prefer to have someone on their books and not pay agency fees. But supply work has really dried up, which is why you are not getting as much as you hope for
    Q3: Read this: Dear Theo
    Good luck!
