Dear Theo - should I apply to a school a second time?

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by Gila, Mar 4, 2011.

  1. Dear Theo, I'm thinking of applying for a primary teaching position at a school where I actually had an interview once before (in 2009), and am unsure whether I should or not. I remember the interview and liked the school, and as far as I remember my feedback was ok although they appointed somebody else. I have completed the induction year since then, and feel that I have learnt a lot in my last post (I have only just finished this job, which was a maternity leave cover). Is there any point in applying, should I mention my previous interview at the school, and what should I say about it?

Yes, if you are interested in the post, then apply.
Last time you didn't get it, but you were in competition with someone who will not be applying this time - because s/he already works there! So the main competition from then has vanished.
I don't think you should bother to mention i.he last application You are different now, as you say, so start afresh.
