    Dear Theo,
I've just received an application for a job I'd love to get and I've arranged a visit for Friday. However, the application (not the advert, annoyingly, or I wouldn't have asked for a pack to be sent to me and arranged a visit) states they want a teacher with at least 4 years experience. Can I count my PGCE as one of those years? Probably a no but I'd like to be sure!
    Many thanks!

It might 'scupper your chances', but if they're not going to consider anyone without 4 years experience so what!
My suggestion is to ask at your visit to the school, if there was some 'leeway' on the 4 years experience if it was close? I've done this in the past as I have the problem of almost having 'too much experience and therefore expensive'.

Good suggestion from Lara to ask about leeway. And you know the old joke about experience- there's X years' of experience, and there's 1 year of experience, repeated X times. ;-)

    Best wishes

Thank you both for your replies. I will go along to the school and ask while I'm there! I know the school a little as it's linked to mine, so perhaps they will forgive me the extra year!
    Thanks again! [IMG]

    An update!
I had the visit today, really loved it, everyone was friendly and seemed very supportive! On the way round I was asked how long I'd been teaching, I answered 3 years and that I hadn't seen the"minimum 4 years" bit until after booking the visit. I was barely halfway through the sentence when a hand was waved, dismissing my lack of that extra year.
And it was as simple as that! Off to complete my application this weekend!
Thanks again for the advice! [IMG]
