Dear Theo - Non-Teaching Roles?

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by Kittyhime, Dec 9, 2011.

  1. Like so many other teachers currently waiting for supply work I've been looking around for alternative employment to supplement my income. Unfortunately a lot of the roles at the moment are full and not part time :( Would taking a full time job outside of education, even if only for a couple of months, reduce my chances of being shortlisted for a teaching role at a later date?

A job in education is clearly the best thing. Teaching first of all, but if not, TA, HTLA, CS.
TA job offered? Take it! Advice from a Head...
Jobs outside education have to be taken by some people, otherwise they would simply starve. And Heads understand that nowadays. Keeping in touch with education somehow, or at least with children or young people, would be great if you could manage it. Help with a Sunday School, Scouts or similar?
    Best wishes
