Dear Theo- Job Hunting due to up coming redundancy

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by noc1, May 4, 2011.

  1. After 13 years in mainstream education I took the SLT role of Director of Specialism of Science and Humanities in an MLD special school, due to the loss of the dedicated specialism grant and falling roles I am being made redundant after 4 terms in post.
I have been applying for some Assistant head posts but mainly Heads of Science jobs as they appear in the TES, but have yet to get any interviews. In the past when I applied for jobs I usually got an interview.
My middle management experience was as Head of department for PSHE and Citizenship in schools that did value the subjects and in which I gained whole school experience. My first subhect is Science.
It has been suggested that the forthcoming redudancy is reflecting badly on my application. What do you think and what would you suggest?
    Thanks in anticipation.

Oops, careful! The falling ROLLS have made yout ROLE redundant! You don't want a typo in your applications. And another point: it is not you who are being made redundant, it is your role. Personally I cannot see what the redundancy has to do with it. Don't even see why it has to be part of an application. Are you following all the advice in the clickables in the Welcome thread? Have you booked on to one of the seminars for the weekend after next? Wih redundancy looming, the Inset budget should be suppoting you. Best wishes.
