Dear Theo, job application/executive summary

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by Aquamarine_blue, Feb 19, 2010.

  1. I am a PGCE student who will finish her training by this summer term. I read all the advice and applied for a job but I only sent in the application form and the letter of application ( 1 page). I was shortlisted but did not get the job and was given feedback that I was too modest and did not sell myself in the interview.
I am now applying for another job and have read your suggestion of adding an executive summary. According to the application they have only asked for letter of application based on person specification. what should I do ? Please help

I usually say "No-one ever asks for an executive summary", but then on SMT Forum someone said that they had applied for a job where it was asked for!
So I'll say: "Schools very rarely ask for the executive summary, but send it along anyway, just calling it Summary of application of M Anishac for the post of Year 2 teacher, in addition to what they have asked for.
Just look at what other posters have said about following this advice, look at post 3 here and click on the examples.
The summary is in bullet point form, as a table, and is brief, a summary. The letter is in sentences with correct grammar, and is full.
    Best of luck
  3. Thanks. Will attach it and hope for the best
