Dear Theo: Interview question about a project and progression

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by anon3767, May 18, 2011.

  1. Hi there,

I've got an interview soon at a PRU as a Specialist Teacher and they've sent me a question to prepare to answer:

"Describe a teaching project you have led that improved outcomes for young people. Be able to talk about the progress made"

It says I have 10 minutes to answer this question and can have brief notes on me. I know roughly what I can talk about to describe the project but I'm struggling to talk for 10 minutes on it?

Does anyone have any ideas/hints/tips they could guide me on?

    Much appreciated

You describe the project, and also describe how the pupils reacted, how you assessed its impact, what that impact was (the progress) and what you learned from this for the next project that you do.
I'd find it hard to keep it to only 10 minutes!
I think you can say more than you think - go on, have a go, time yourself.
    You'll be surprised!
    Best wishes.

    I
do Application and Interview one-to-ones, and also contribute to the
Job Application Workshops. We look at application letters, executive
summaries and interviews, with practical exercises that people really
    appreciate.

The Job Seminars are all sold out, I'm afraid, but Julia is planning some more later on.

A new SLT seminar is available now on 22 May www.tesweekendworkshop32.eventbrite.com, and another is planned for 18 June.

E-mail Julia on advice@tsleducation.com for how to book a meeting with me personally.

    Look forward to seeing you!

  3. Thank you - it's very useful to get some advice from an "insider" as such!

Could I ask you what you think they may ask with it being a PRU? I'm thinking along the lines of behaviour; SEN; planning interactive lessons etc. but just wondered what your thoughts are?

    Thank you

    Oh dear!
Having helped the firstt ime, I am now going to be useless.
I haven't the faintest idea - I have no experience whatsoever of PRUs. I would hazard a guess and say something about a restraint policy and child protection in general might be important.
    Best wishes
