Hello, I have seen a post that I would like to apply for. It is a Head of English position in a Catholic independent school.
    Problems are:
    1. Im not Catholic (but I am Christian)
    2. All my experience to date is in state education although my current school is in an affluent and middle class area.
    3. They have asked for three references. My head and HOD will provide two but who to put as the third?

    Any help? Thank you.

The catholic independent school may well be more interested in your ability as teacher and manager than as a catholic. Unless it is for a Headship or Deputy Head post, or another post where they actually specify that they want a practicising catholic, they will not be looking for a catholic to take the post, so getting a reference from a priest is totally unnecessary unless specifically asked for one - which it seems here that you haven't been.
Your third referee could be a Deputy Head, a Head of Year if you are a Form Tutor.
Have a look at this werbsite http://www.cesew.org.uk/index.asp?id=1 to get a feel for this type of school and what it might expect of you. Also go to the Independent Forum here on the TES and open the Welcome thread to get an overview of what an indy school is like.
Have you read the shortlisting clickables inside the Welcome thread here on JobSeekers? Lots of posters have got jobs by using them.
