Dear Theo - I got a job!!! And it's my new start.

I'm an NQT (qualified July 2010) and I was employed from September to December. I had to request early release from the job because I had lots of trouble with behaviour management, the head was unsupportive, things went from bad to worse and I was about to "fail" the term so I got out before I could fail. I think the head would probably have found a way to push me out if I hadnt resigned.
The experience has knocked my confidence so much and I thought I would have next to no chance of getting a new job as my reference wasn't great. However I signed on with a very nice supply agency who did not take a reference from my last employer and now, through them, I HAVE GOT A NEW JOB!! It starts after Feb half term, initially till summer to cover a maternity leave, but they have a permanent post starting September, which could be given to me if I perform well. As they have not seen my former head's reference, the school know nothing of the difficulties in my last employment. I consider this to be the fresh start that I never thought I would get and I want to make the most of it!! It is exactly the sort of job in exactly the sort of school I wanted! I just wish I wasn't so scared!

If it's any consolation I had a change of school in my probationary year (long story) & it made all the difference & 30 years later I'm still in teaching!
