I am a bit disappointed at not even making the interview stage. Very littl effedback, just 'other candidates better suited to role' I am hoping this just means my lack of A level teaching was my failing.

    Thanks for your feedback anyway.

    It may well be.
A larger school (Does yours go up to GCSE only? Some smaller ones, especially GSA schools, certainly do) will have a sixth form, and the ability to allow timetabling flexibility is important, on the one hand, and the over-all view of the subject from Yr7 (or 9) to yr 13 is also considered important, even for teaching the lower years.
I'm sorry for the disappointment, but do keep on looking.
    Best wishes
