Dear Theo, how long till you hear?

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by Bobitty, Mar 1, 2011.

  1. Dear Theo, I have a bit of a question, which may seem like a bit of a silly, how-long-is-a-piece-of-string type question. I applied to two jobs last week, for one the closing date was last friday and, for the other, the closing date was today. I know how hard it is to get shortlisted and, based on talking with friends who have done PGCEs in recent years, I don't really expect to just yet (I've not started my second placement yet).
Both jobs looked amazing, completely different schools, but places I can really imagine myself working. So, for both schools, I spent a long time on my application (although neither provided a person specification). For both jobs the interviews are scheduled for next week (early next week and late next week respectively). I was really just wondering how long they would take to contact you if you were successful in being shortlisted? I know it might be different school to school but I just wondered how much notice they give you generally and when's the latest you might expect to hear? Or, how long schools generally might take to sift through their many applications? Just so I know when I can give up hope of hearing :)
    Thankyou in advance :)

Impossible question with only one possible answer: Dunno!
They will almost certainly tell you by Saturday . . . will you have any nails left by then? It's a horrid nail-biting situation.
Spend some time reading the interview clickables inside the Welcome thread - they'll help you with general interview preparation.
    Best wishes
