Dear Theo - executive summary problem

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by selotape, Feb 8, 2011.

  1. Dear Theo - I am about to apply for an internal promotion. The 'essential qualities' contain one area that I have no experience of. In the executive summary should I just state that, to date, no opportunity has arisen for me to gain experience in this area, but look forward to developing my skills if appointed? Or should it be left blank? Or not inclluded in ex. summary at all?

    Many thanks, S

Firstly - are you sure you have no experience? Quite often you have done something that requires similar skills. e.g. managing a team - you organised your year 9 tutor group for a Charity event.
Otherwise, your suggestion of looking forward to this development is fine.
N.B. internal candidates tend to think "They know what I do" and underplay their hand in the application and interview. Don't be too modest.
    Best of luck!
