Dear Theo/ and others. Help!

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by twinklelittlestar, May 22, 2011.

  1. I've been lucky enough to secure two job interviews this week in two lovely schools, one on Monday and one on Tuesday. Problem is, I like the Monday school but I LOVE the Tuesday school and have beaten over 100 applicants just to secure the interview.
I'd really like the opportunity to see if I can get the Tuesday post before accepting a post at the Monday one (if I were to be offered) Is there any way around this ? I really don't want to mess anyone around.
P.S I'm a teacher with 4 years experience and currently on a permanent contract at another school.

    Oh, well done!
    Two interviews - that's great!
    This is a fairly common question . . .
If offered a job, must I decide instantly?
The best you could hope for is that they allow you 24 hours, but it may not happen . . .
This thread is part of the Interview Tips clickable inside the Welcome thread - have a look there fore more advice.
Very best of luck! I look forward to you starting a new thread called Dear Theo - I got that job!

    I
do Application and Interview one-to-ones, and also contribute to the
Job Application Workshops. We look at application letters, executive
summaries and interviews, with practical exercises that people really
    appreciate.

The Job Seminars are all sold out, I'm afraid, but Julia is planning some more later on.

A new SLT seminar is planned for 18 June.

E-mail Julia on advice@tsleducation.com for how to book a meeting with me personally.

    Look forward to seeing you!

Not all schools offer the job on the day of the interview, so you might not need to worry. But if you are offered the job on Monday you don't have to accept it straight away (although they may well ask you why not). Then you can ask the Tuesday school to let you know as soon as possible as you have been interviewed/offered a job at another school and would rather take this job if it's offered to you but will need to let the other school know soon.

They will this coming week - it's a rush to get jobs offered and accepted by the deadline date for handing in resignations.
I bet you do this week!
They will be reluctant to let you have any time, as if you turn it down later, their 2nd choice may have accepted another job.
This week is THE WEEK for job offers. Accept straight away or we will offer it elsewhere, could be a typical response.
    Best wishes
