Thank you both very much for the advice.
I emailed the school yesterday after my visit to thank them and let them know I intended to proceed with my application so I don't wanted it to look like I am hounding them. I am even second guessing myself for sending the email! Especially as there has been no acknowledgement...should I worry about that?
The report will take me a few days to perfect and then I will send it in.
I think this proecess is turning me into a mass of self doubt and paranoia!

  2. BTW, I am Chris (she) under a new name as TES went silly last year.

Don't be terrified but do show that you have put some thought into your application and want to work at THAT school, not just ANY school.
The one I binned was clearly a generic application which took all of 5 minutes to change the names etc. But at least they did! I have had applications for other schools/heads sent to me.
Best advice is tailor your application to the school. And, really sorry if I terrified anyone!

Totally untypical, and actually unprofessional if you ask me.
    Nope.
They don't even have to advertise if they don't want to (except for Heads, usually).
So, to answer the question: send it off as soon as it is finished to a high standard that shows exactly how you fit all their requirements perfectly.
    Best wishes

    I feel bad now! Sorry.
I am a secondary mainstream teacher and the school I have fallen in love with is a very specialised SEN school. I have spent at least 10 hours on this application so far and I have only done the first part (not like any application I have done before).
I am just writing the report using the insights I have gained from the visit to show them what I would do with the role. I don't want to leave it until the last minute and look like I'm not keen but neither do I want to be pushy.
They are doing individual visits and discussions with the director for potential applicants. Does that meant they are not expecting many applicants or that they want to "weed out" early on?

Exactly my thoughts when I saw that thread! What do they do in PSHE, I wonder.
    Looking good!

    Sigh of relief...
The 1000 word report is completed and the CV (complete with Exec Summary) is polished like a gleaming jewel.
My final paragraph of the report outlined my personal qualities as I see them and came from the heart so I can do no more to convince them.
Now for the nail biting wait for the closing date (10th of Feb) and we shall see if the teaching versin of Beowulf is what they are looking for!

Best of luck. Beowulf slew Grendhal and was the victor/ Let's hope that bodes well for you.
