    dear theo
i hope you can help . i am busy drafting an executive / personal summary following the advice on the jobseekers thread , but i have two pages in response to the personal specification headings - can i have some advice about slimming it down ? it's hard when you have nearly twenty years teaching experience .
i would love to come to one of the workshops , however , finances just don't allow it .

The first thing to do is to strip out the less important ones, or ones that are clearly on your application form. Or indeed, the odd one where you haven't actually done anything! (But if there's more than two or so, you should consider if you are right for the job).
Then see if you can group a few together. These two, for example could be put together.
To set and mark homework assignments in accordance with the published homework timetable and agreed departmental procedure.
To contribute to the department's system of assessment of pupils including where applicable the setting, marking and moderation of coursework tasks, test and examinations.
Then you cut down their wording.
So: To prepare lessons and deliver the curriculum appropriate to the age and ability of the pupils concerned, following the agreed syllabus or scheme of work.
Becomes: Prepare and deliver lessons appropriately and following syllabus and scheme of work
That's just the LH part of the table. You then ensure that you are very brief in the RH side, no sentences, not full examples, just notes.
    Best wishes
