Dear Sage - 5 year supply rule

Discussion in 'New teachers' started by moomin4, Apr 19, 2012.

  1. Hi,

Does the 5 year supply rule apply to everyone regardless of when I got QTS.

I got my QTS summer 2011, have completed 2 terms NQT and now looking at supply.....have not started or done any supply yet.....

So do I get 5 years from the day I start supply work?

    Thanks

To clarify the current restrictions are 16months of non induction supply work from the first date of supply work post QTS. How you gained QTS does not affect this unless you are in one of the new exempt categories in the legislation coming in for Sept 2012.- these seem to be for experienced teachers or teachers with QTLS. This new legislation will introduce a 5 year supply limit from the date of QTS.
