Dear Joe, I want to move into primary teaching. How do I do this?

Discussion in 'Modern foreign languages' started by lauraflora, Jun 7, 2011.

  1. I've been a secondary school MFL teacher now for 8 years and I'm losing all motivation for the job. The vast majority of pupils I teach have no interest in language learning despite my best efforts! For a while now, I've been thinking about a move into the primary sector but I have a few questions. As my subject is MFL, would this put me at a disadvantage? Would I need to re-train? If I wanted to teach early years, would I need a special qualification? Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance!

Ooh I would love to do this too! I did a few days in a primary, and enjoyed it, however I know of loads of primary teachers that hate it / are stressed. Hard to get a real feel for a job until you're in it! :-(
