    I am an NQT who had almost finished my first year in teaching with flying colours when I whistle-blew at school and I now find myself being sanctioned under "Gross Misconduct" because shortly before I whistle-blew I commited a fraudulent act myself (even though nothing ever came of it!).

    I strongly suspect I will be dismissed at the hearing and I will appeal but even so it is likely that the governors will do as the head wants. I was under duress and confessed almost instantly!

    What is the liklihood of me finding a new job having been dismissed for gross misconduct in my first year of teaching? My lessons are mainly outstanding and my NQT folder is choc-full of evidence suggestion that I am very good at what I do.

  2. Depending on the severity of the fraudulent act, perhaps you don't deserve to teach anyway.
    That aside, coming from a recruitment background, any employer is obliged to tell the truth when giving a reference. Therefore, if you are sacked for gross misconduct then they will have to say this. It will then be down to you to convince your potential employer to take you on. In today's market, that may be difficult. Have you sought advice from your union? Would the school accept you stepping down now and thus avoiding the disciplinary issue? You then wouldn't have a gross misconduct verdict on your employment record. Either way, would be difficult to work in the same LEA I would susepct.

    You have three pages of posts answering this query on Workplace Dilemmas. Have you not read them?

    Being a fabulous teacher is irrelevant, this is about being a good, trustworthy and professional individual.
  4. Given the situation you have described, you need to be in contact with your union immediately and you need specialist help and advice about your situation. I am not qualified to help uyou in a situation such as this. Do also be careful aboutr what yopu post on a public forum in case you can be identifed by members of the school/LA. If you are worried that what you have posted may lead to you being identified, do contact Gail Robinson at the TES to have posts removed.
    Questions about your future in teaching are impossible to answer here, so much depends on the situation and the outcome of any investigations/appeals etc.
