Dear James - NQT year after re-training and 4 years after PGCE!!

Discussion in 'New teachers' started by music_coll, Sep 8, 2011.

  1. Hi

I completed my PGCE 4 years ago and now have a job in a secondary school as an NQT. I have changed my subject and am teaching English to small groups of SEN children.
I have no idea what i need to do to start the ball rolling with my NQT year.
I can't recall have a CEDP folder with anything in it!!! (but am going to go up in the loft and look through all the boxes of things i'm hoping i have kept!!)

Any help or advice would be MUCH appreciated!!
    Thanks

You should have an NQT mentor at the school. Ask them how the NQT year will work. They will either expect you to keep a big folder full of evidence, or they won't ask you to do much except attend training sessions and observe different teachers etc.
It really depends on the school, so best ask them what their expectations are.
