I am thinking of doing a bit of private tutoring now that I am retiring as a teacher. However, I have just woken up to the fact that I will of course be holding data on individuals, both parents and their children! Having looked online, I cannot find a consistent answer to my question as to whether I will need to register annually with ICO (Information Commissioner's Office). I understand the need for GDPR, but did not think prior to this moment about how my own tiny bit of tutoring might be in breach of the law if I don't register. Anyone any advice here?

The only data I hold on students is in my head. The government is welcome to dissect my brain when I'm dead! They can also have my address book!
