Data Protection Act

Discussion in 'Private tutors' started by ellesabe, Jul 12, 2011.

  1. I'm in the process of starting up as a tutor and someone suggested that I might want to read over the Data Protection Act guidelines as I will probably be storing information about clients. I thought it would just be a case of reading the advice and adhering to it. however I just came across this:
'If you are processing personal data you usually have to
notify the Information Commissioner about this. Failure to notify is a
criminal offence.'...................... have other private tutors done this?
